Two dragons arrive in the bedroom!

Firstly I must say, I am immensely happy with how quickly this project has been completed!  Relatively speaking, of course.  Two months of work is a VERY quick project in this house!  Those of you that have been following will know that my mosaic has been under construction for two years, so it’s almost a miracle that this is finished already…

Back to the DRAGON-THEMED BED RAILS!

They have been attached, and I have painted the cupboard doors in the same blue.  I’m so happy with the result!  Here are the before and after photos.  What do you think?

Of course, things didn’t go smoothly the entire time…

At first we attached the dragon panels to the inside of the top rail of the bed, for a neater finish, but they didn’t leave enough room to push the sheets down under the mattress.  The mattress was also pushing the panels out on an angle, which just looked shoddy.

So we took the panels off, and re-attached them to the outside of the bed-frame.  “Thumbs up!” said my daughter.

It didn’t make for as seamless a finish, but it worked well.  And once the sliding door panels were painted to match, I was VERY happy with the result:

I am calling this IKEA-hack a success!
