The custom-made “dragon” bed-rails are ready to install!

I can’t believe it’s been a month since I’ve had time to blog.  I can report, however, that the custom-made DRAGON BED-RAILS are finished!

If you recall, we had just finished drawing the dragon designs onto MDF and cutting them to shape.  The next job was to paint.  Here’s how the project looked the last time I posted.

And here’s what’s happened since:

My daughter painted the white details with a paint pen.

We painted the flat white areas with a mini roller.   Then I started edging around in blue…

…and filling in the gaps.    The dragons were beginning to emerge!

Ellen’s design called for red under the wings…                       …and blue for the eyes.

Several layers of paint later,                        …plus a dark outline to finish,

And the dragons were ready to install!

We hope to attach the dragon bed-rails to Ellen’s IKEA bed this weekend…  Watch this space for the finished result of my first “IKEA-hack”!
